This long-awaited improvement will reduce overflows by 90 percent or more and help us to establish cleaner rivers for our drinking water and for recreation.
Led by Mayor Henry, City Utilities has been a leader in improving efficiency and reducing waste while creating savings for the city and its residents.
This program has saved over $400,000 in electric costs in the first year of operation and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by thousands of tons per year.
Thanks to our city’s efforts, residents have increased recycling participation to almost 85 percent, which is up from 35 percent just a few years ago.
Fort Wayne has been recognized as one of the best green fleets in North America, having reduced emissions by 50 percent and saving more than 75,000 gallons of gasoline each year.
Joint efforts by the mayor and City Council are making Fort Wayne a more attractive place to live, raise a family and grow a business.
This is an agreement that took years to reach and has the support of over 150 nations and states.
