Chippewa River Water Festival enjoys successful event in Mt.
Pleasant.
The organizers of the Chippewa River Water Festival want attendees to take what they learn from it and use it in the future.
Pleasant featured live music, storytellers, activists, and speakers for the purpose of promoting water conservation and education, the Chippewa River, and community health.
“For us as citizens, it’s our job to protect our water, no matter which administration is in office,” said Jen Raymond, organizer of the event and volunteer with Citizens for Alternatives to Chemical Contamination.

“It’s those grassroots movements that continue to compel the government to protect those waterways.” She said the state has good access to waterways and useage but issues such as water pollution remain and E. coli remains a problem in the Chippewa River.
Brandy Hernandez, from Shepherd, came to the event with her husband and daughter.
She and her husband volunteer at the Wheatland Music Festival to cook food for volunteers of Citizens for Alternatives to Chemical Contamination during the festival.
“I think it’s a really good idea to bring awareness to clean the waters,” Hernandez.
