Eielson hosting town hall on water contamination
Eielson hosting town hall on water contamination.
FAIRBANKS — Eielson Air Force Base is hosting a town hall meeting Wednesday for Moose Creek residents to discuss the interim feasibility study for long-term drinking water systems for those residents whose water was contaminated by chemicals in firefighting foam.
The town hall is scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Moose Creek Fire Station.
The federal Environmental Protection Agency last year announced tougher health advisory standards for perfluorinated compounds, the toxic chemicals previously used in firefighting foams at Eielson and at a firefighting training center in South Fairbanks.
Eielson leaders and federal and state regulators will be available to answer questions.
A presentation of the alternatives will be given followed by a question and answer session.
The study is available for viewing and downloading on the Moose Creek PFCs Information Repository Site at bit.ly/2ubEqjn or the Eielson Air Force Base Environmental web site at bit.ly/2t5pzY3.
