BELLE PLAINE – A public hearing was set for May 1 for the old school property to change the zoning of the property, at the Monday, April 17, meeting of the Belle Plaine City Council.
Belle Plaine CDC Sheila Hlas, director, gave an update on the Belle Plaine Community Development Corporation (BPCDC).
They have been working on their investment drive and have 45 business investors so far, totaling over $25,000.
The board has been working on a five-year strategic plan on what they should be doing as an organization and what is best for the community.
Plans are also being made for the Belle Plaine July 3 celebration and car show.
Other business The council gave permission to the Belle Plaine Area Museum to hold an event at the museum on May 13, 2017.
A public hearing was set for May 15 for a public hearing on delinquent animal licenses.
A resolution was approved to change the per capita landfill fees that apartment dwellers pay the city.
Police Chief Kris Hudson reported they are looking for reserve police officers, and that firearms training has begun.
