Boil advisory lifted in Mahoning Township

MAHONING TWP.
— The water in Mahoning Township is safe for residents to drink again.
Township officials lifted the boil advisory this morning following a second round of testing, township Supervisor Chairman Bill Lynn said.
Residents who live in the area from Kingsley Avenue west to the Locust Lane, Primrose and Barberry courts and Locust Lane north to and including Red Lane, have been under the water boil advisory since a water main broke on Locust Lane early Sunday morning.
The state Department of Environmental Protection requires two positive tests to ensure bacteria levels are not too high.
A second positive test result came back late Tuesday, Lynn said.
