LAKE WACCAMAW, NC (WECT) – The Division of Water Resources has advised that some consumers of the Lake Waccamaw Water System in Columbus County should boil all water for human consumption or use bottle water until further notice.

According to Town of Lake Waccamaw officials, the areas affected include Creek Ridge Road, Bartram Lane, Jefferson Road and all of Bella Coola Road.

Consumers are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages due to a broken water main. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria

Vigorous boiling for one minute is recommended.
