Boil water advisory lifted for handful of Flint businesses

FLINT, MI — A boil water advisory issued for a handful of Flint businesses following a water main break last week has been lifted.
The city announced the expiration of the advisory Sunday night for Mike’s Auto Parts, Complete Auto and Truck Parts, AutoZone, and Rolfe’s Auto Collision after a Jan. 14 main break took place in the 3500 block of North Dort Highway.
School employee accused of inappropriate actions with former student GRAND BLANC, MI – A police investigation is underway following accusations of inappropriate communications and actions between a Grand Blanc Community Schools employee and a former high school student.
In a letter to the community, Grand Blanc schools Superintendent Clarence Garner said the district learned on Thursday, Jan. 18 about the allegations of staff misconduct.
An investigation was immediately launched by the school district, in cooperation with the Grand Blanc City Police Department and Grand Blanc Township Police Department.
Grand Blanc Township police could not provide additional information Sunday.
Multiple calls were received by 911 shortly after 4 p.m. Jan. 21 for large amounts of smoke coming from the complex at the corner of Ballenger Highway and Westcombe Avenue near the city’s western border.
Flint fire District Commander Steve Cobb said flames were spotted on the first, second, and third floor of the building when firefighters arrived.
Cobb noted a squatter may have set a fire inside the structure, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
Ballenger Highway was closed between Court Street and Beecher Road as firefighters worked over the blaze.
