Caddo groundwater supply is OK, but not assured

Caddo groundwater More than 2 million Louisiana residents rely on aquifers for water, while an additional 587,000 draw from privately owned wells, according to U.S Geological Survey data.
Caddo Parish has 61 wells, Bossier Parish 95.
The Wilcox Aquifer is one of four aquifers — of 11 statewide — that provide groundwater for Caddo Parish residents.
Monitoring water quality Caddo Parish partnered with LSU-Shreveport to install 10 test wells to collect data on water levels and quality.
That data will be used by the Department of Natural Resources, Red River Watershed Management Institute, and Caddo Public Works to develop a plan to ensure adequate water in the future, according to parish brochures.
