Asheville boil water advisory cancelled after mudslide damage.
Buncombe Co., N.C. (WSPA) — An early morning mudslide closed a road near Asheville and put nearby residents under a boil water advisory.
The boil water advisory was lifted Saturday.
Dispatch confirmed Town Mountain Road was blocked shortly before 8 a.m. Friday.
The road is open again.
As of 6:45 a.m. Friday, Asheville Water Resources Department says an emergency water interruption is impacting the area between Bartrams Walk Drive and Mountain Vista Drive off Town Mountain Road.
Water officials have also issued a boil water advisory for the area.
Residents are advised to vigorously boil tap water for one minute before consuming and wait until the water is clear before using after it’s restored.

Boil Water Advisory issued for Town Mountain Road.
Asheville, N.C. (WLOS) — The City of Asheville Water Resources Department has issued a Boil Water Advisory after a mudslide along Town Mountain Road.
The advisory covers an area in the Town Mountain Road region from Bartrams Walk Drive to Mountain Vista Drive.
Residents are encourgaged to vigorously boil tap water for 1 minute before consuming it.
Customers will receive notification that the advisory has been lifted via the same communication process as this advisory.
When water systems experience low pressure or lose pressure, there is an increased risk of contamination.
This does not mean that the water is contaminated, but that the possibility exists.
Once pressure returns, there is the possibility that some discolored water or air could be present in the lines.
Properties in the affected areas are receiving this notification via the COA automated system or door hangers.

Mayor Calls For Investigation Into Cause Of Boil Water Advisory.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Mayor Bill Peduto is calling for a targeted investigation into the recent water issues that affected parts of Pittsburgh.
The mayor wants to further investigate the specific issue that prompted the advisory.
“This is not a fishing expedition.
We simply want to discover what went wrong, and how to keep these events from happening again,” Mayor Peduto said.
He also wants an external auditor to study local lead testing kits and have Auditor General Eugene DePasquale study PWSA operations.
DePasquale issued the following statement: “I am pleased that the members of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority voted today to invite the Department of the Auditor General and the Office of Attorney General to conduct reviews of the authority’s operations.
“My team is already evaluating our options for such an examination so that we can offer as much help as possible to the authority and to the city to ensure that all Pittsburghers can be assured of a safe and abundant supply of clean drinking water.
The residents of Pittsburgh deserve better.” DePasquale went on to say that he plans to outline plans for a review by the end of the month.

Boil water advisory issued in Scottsburg, Indiana.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A boil water advisory has been issued for residents in Scottsburg, Indiana.
The advisory was issued Saturday morning due to a water main break.
The affected areas include North Meridian Street east to the Scottsburg city limits and Highway 56 north to the Scottsburg city limits.
Officials have not said how long the advisory will remain in effect.

Justin Parrotte, 28, is charged with homicide in the death of 40-year-old John Miller.
Fourteen officers were involved in making the arrest.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Channel 11 News, three people were walking on Vinial Street last Wednesday, and Parrotte told one of them to wait at the bottom of the steps.
That person told police they heard several gunshots.
Surveillance video shows three people walking in the area and two running away.
According to the complaint, Parrotte wanted to know the names of informants in a drug bust on Phineas Street.
Parrotte was taken to the hospital after his arrest and later transferred to the Allegheny County jail.

Boil water advisory issued for about 115 customers in Martin County, Ky.. MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – A boil water advisory has been issued Thursday for some customers of the Martin County Water District, according to a news release from the agency.
It affects customers from the beginning at Milo Bridge on Old Route 3 and continuing through Milo to the bottom of Calloway Hill at Tomahawk.
About 115 customers were affected after a valve shutoff in the water system.
Customers are advised to boil any water used for cooking, drinking, bathing, oral hygiene and watering pets for at least three minutes, then allow it to cool sufficiently.
The advisory remains in effect until further notice.

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has rescinded a boil water advisory for Severy in Greenwood County.
The advisory was issued because of a loss of pressure.
Laboratory testing samples collected from the City of Severy indicate no evidence of contamination.
Public water suppliers in Kansas take all measures necessary to notify customers quickly after a system failure or shutdown.

Part of Richland County under boil water advisory.
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – The City of Columbia Water Works division is asking for a portion of Richland County to boil their water.
The division says water customers at the Department of Juvenile Justice on Broad River Road to boil their water before drinking or cooking.
The City says the area has experienced a 10-inch water main break, which could result in bacterial contamination of the water.
The City is currently in the process of working the problem.
