The city of Ada is advising residents to boil their water before using it for household tasks.

Officials issued the boil advisory Tuesday because high levels of sediment were found in the main water storage facility at the water treatment plant, which created the potential for contamination, public information director Lisa Bratcher said in a news release. She added that the water may be unsafe for human consumption as a result.

“As a precaution, it is advised that the consumers of this water system bring the water to full, rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption, food preparation, dish washing, tooth brushing, wound care and bathing infants who may ingest bath water,” she said.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, but officials anticipated the problem would be temporary, Bratcher said.
