E. coli contamination in Corinth RV park’s drinking water

E. coli contamination in Corinth RV park’s drinking water.
Corinth A boil water advisory has been issued for the Alpine Lake RV Resort, after health inspectors found E. coli in the drinking water system.
Tests confirmed a lack of chlorine in the system had enabled the presence of E. coli, according to the state Health Department.
The advisory, issued on June 21, will remain in effect until chlorine is re-established in the campground’s water system, the Health Department said.
In addition, the state has ordered the resort to contract with a certified water operator, due to a poor history of compliance with maintaining proper standards.
The agency did not immediately provide details.
The campground has almost 500 sites.
E. coli bacteria in drinking water are not always harmful, but is used as an indicator of contamination in the water supply, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Some E. coli strains can make people sick with such illnesses as diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illness and pneumonia.
Alpine Lake Manager Robert Scott did not return a call for comment.
