HOUSTON – The city of Houston is working to contain a spill at a wastewater treatment plant in east Houston.

The plant is located at 2525 S. Sgt. Macario Garcia Dr.

City officials said in a press release late Wednesday residents within a half mile of the plant who use a private water supply are advised to boil their water before using it.

High water caused by the recent storms and flooding resulted in the release of untreated wastewater, officials said.

The Department of Public Works and Engineering is monitoring the facility and the situation. Clean-up activities are taking place through the night.
