Frozen “Pollution Popsicles” Made From 100 Water Sources Highlight Taiwan’s Pollution Problem.
A group of students from the National Taiwan University of the Arts have come up with a line of “frozen treats” for a Polluted Water Popsicles project.
The students collected samples of polluted water from 100 different sources in Taiwan.
They even designed special wrappers for their creations and assigned each one with a number and a “flavor” named after its source.
At first glance the popsicles look like artisanal desert treats, but on closer inspection you can see that the little dots aren’t chia seeds.
The murky waters contain bits of plastic, bottle caps, and other impurities.
The students want to spread awareness about the water pollution problem in Taiwan and emphasize the importance of clean water.
By displaying water from central areas people often pass by, they hope to show that what lies beneath the surface isn’t as harmless as we might think.
The pollution popsicles are currently on display at the New Generation of Design Exhibition in Taipei.
