John Heim files for Lee County commissioners race

John Heim files for Lee County commissioners race.
Heim has filed to run as a write in for District 2.
Heim is the co-founder of the SWFL Clean Water Movement, a local nonprofit that has lobbied for water quality issues locally and state wide.
He was named as a "river champion" in 2014 by the Washington, D.C. -based American Rivers Association during its 40th anniversary celebration.
He has also traveled to D.C.and Tallahassee to speak to legislators about water pollution in Florida.
The main staple of his platform will be tackling water quality issues, with what is affecting southwest Florida being his priority.
While water quality will be Heim’s top priority, he said he will be able to catch up with a learning curve to other county issues.
"I’ve lived here for 37 years, I’ve no qualms on understanding other issues," he said.
Heim hopes, if elected, to take a closer look at the bed tax and make sure it is being distributed fairly.
"I want a better life for my daughter and everyone else in Lee County," he said.
