The administration of the University of Kelaniya has decided to close all faculties except the Medical Faculty for a period of one week.

The decision was taken after several students had fallen ill due to suspected water contamination.

All students have been asked to vacate the university premises soon. The university will be reopened for lecturers only on May 04.

“Most of the female students are suffering with diarrhea,’ a spokesman for the Students’ Council said.
