But in order to allow that company to save a few dollars, the powers that be failed to protect the people in the building.
Tell that to miners who have black lung, or folks living downstream from a plant that has dumped toxins in to the water, or parents with children who have asthma because of fouled air.
In the interest of protecting a few industries, the many suffer.
Much has been written about Coastal Energy’s presence on the banks of the Eleven Point River in Willow Springs.
But it located there because our DNR and EPA was not aware that it existed.
But for years, the company fouled the Eleven Point River.
Every year, thousands of people enjoy the waters of the Eleven Point.
That is what state and federal regulations are all about: protecting citizens from the harmful (but profitable) acts of a few scofflaws.
But he perseveres, in the interests of creating more profits for polluting industries.
