MONTCLAIR, NJ — A boil water advisory is still in effect for Montclair residents following a large water main break on Sunday evening and a weekend of stormy weather, township officials say.
But now there’s a new complication: water got into some of PSE&G’s gas mains and may impact heating for some local residents.
According to a Montclair township alert sent at 8:44 a.m. on Tuesday, repairs to the broken water main have been completed and water is being sampled at this time.
The results will take at least one day to complete, officials said.
"A boil water advisory is still in effect and notice will be sent as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted," Montclair officials said.

In addition to complications from the broken water main, PSE&G has notified the township that water was introduced into some of its gas mains, Montclair officials stated Tuesday.
PSE&G crews are in the process of dewatering gas mains on Central Avenue, James Street, Midland Avenue and Valley Road, officials said.
The PSEG issue may affect heating for residents of the above streets, officials said.
"It is expected that PSE&G will have all necessary work completed by late Friday evening," officials added.
