Andrew M. Cuomo formally announced nearly $37 million in grants and loans on Wednesday to fund water projects across the state, including more than $18 million to Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
The grants are part of a combined $225 million invested in the Water Infrastructure Improvement Act so far.
Cuomo’s office, have saved taxpayers more than $629 million to date.
Grants and loans were awarded in the north country for the following projects: ■ Town of Cape Vincent, Jefferson County — $2.3 million for the construction of a new distribution system to serve the town of Cape Vincent.
■ Village of Carthage, Jefferson County — $3.5 million to finance the costs of planning, design and construction of upgrades and equipment replacement at the Carthage-West Carthage Joint Water Pollution Control Facility.
■ Town of Clifton, St. Lawrence County — $4 million for the installation of a new transmission main between the town of Clifton’s Newton Falls water district and the town of Fine water system.
“This is another important step in the process finalizing the financing paperwork for the town of Cape Vincent’s expansion of its municipal water system to shoreline residents extending out to the lighthouse,” Assemblywoman Addie A.E.
