Instructions regarding Rain water harvesting, its importance, and innovative methods for accomplishing it, were imparted under the auspices of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department of Bhilai Steel Plant on June 5 -observed as World Environment Day at ‘Adarsh Ispat Gram’ Dhaba.
GM (CSR, Personnel-Mines-Rowghat) Anurag Nagar was present as the Chief Guest in this function, specially addressed by Dr R P Dewangan.
Sourabh Sinha, after welcoming the assembled audience, elaborated upon the importance of water conservation, specifically in context of constantly depleting ground water level in vast areas of the region.
He also informed about the extensive plantation drive undertaken by BSP management in BSP Township and peripheral areas in the function held on World Environment Day.
Village Surpanch, Rukmini Madharia also informed about the benefits accrued from implementation of effective measures for water conservation.
He also apprised about obstructions caused by the spurt in cement-concrete constructions in increasing the level of ground water, specifically caused by hard layers of concrete for discharge of rain water inside the earth.
He also elaborated upon the positive outcome of rain water harvesting in context of increasing the underground water level and its apparent benefits.
The programme was coordinated by Premendra Jain and Rajesh Sharma while AGM (CSR)Sadeep Ahluwalia proposed he vote of thanks before concluding the significant event.
