So much water but there’s still shortage in supply.
What is the way forward?
Clearly, the responsibility of ensuring a reliable supply of safe and affordable water rests on both the federal and state governments and the related agencies.
More importantly, water issues should not be politicised.
Forum Air Malaysia strongly proposes that federal and state agencies put their differences aside to focus on fulfilling this responsibility.
There should also be greater inter-agency co-operation and collaboration to stop water pollution and reduce non revenue water.
SPAN should focus on regulating the water services industry to comply with established standards and practices.
On the demand side, more awareness and education programmes need to be undertaken to promote better water consumption and conservation by consumers.
Better awareness and education should promote more responsible water consumption.
