About 40 homes in Summerside have been ordered onto a precautionary boil water order by the Department of Health and Wellness.

The order follows a water main break yesterday that covered the areas of Notre Dame Street (from Central Street to Granville Street), Harvard Street (from Russell Street to Granville Street), Granville Street (from Milton to Harvard Street) and Spring Street (from Winter Street to Notre Dame Street).
The break required the shutdown of water to about 40 properties.
Repairs included cutting and replacing of water lines as well as flushing and disinfection. The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in place until repairs are complete and water sample results indicate the system has returned to normal.
Residents will be informed when the precautionary advisory has been lifted.
