UPDATE: Water main breaks prompt boil advisory; Helias cancels classes

A precautionary boil advisory is being issued for Missouri American Water customers in part of Jefferson City.
However, as that was taking place, a second break on Southwest occurred and crews had to stop the pumping to fill the tank.
Crews had to work throughout the night to fix the second break on Southwest and were unable to fill the tank on Ellis like they normally would do.
Because of this, many customers in the area of Southwest Boulevard had little or no water pressure when they got up on Wednesday morning.
was without water, according to a news release from Capital Region at approximately 8:50 a.m. Wednesday.
Jefferson City Public Schools announced at noon that two of its elementary schools in the impacted area are also under the precautionary boil water advisory.
Three other JCPS buildings — Cedar Hill and Lawson elementary schools and Thomas Jefferson Middle School — are also located within the impacted area, but are not affected because they are not serviced by Missouri American, according to a news release from JCPS Director of Communications Ryan Burns.
JCPS said it would continue to monitor the situation and would remain in contact with Missouri American, and would provide more information if anything changes.
In all, Russell said approximately 5500 customers were in the affected area.
According to Missouri American’s website alert on the boil advisory, "We are asking customers to bring their water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.

Communities put on boil water advisory after pump station is damaged in Fayette County

The Victor pump station was damaged overnight causing the water storage tank to run out of water.
Now the communities of Victor, Lansing and areas have to boil their water.
West Virginia American Water has stationed potable water tankers Class VI/Adventures on the Gorge in Lansing and at the Victor Post Office on Midland Trail in Victor for customers impacted by the water outage.
Customers should bring their own containers to fill.
West Virginia American Water crews continue working to install a temporary pump station today while the damaged station is repaired.
The temporary pump is anticipated to be in operation by early evening to begin re-pressurizing the system and refilling the nearby water tank.
Once service is restored, a precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect.

Boil Water Advisory issued in Rockcastle Co.

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for approximately 260 Kentucky American Water customers in Rockcastle County.
Kentucky American Water says that this will impact customers in the Brush Creek and Sand Springs area in Rockcastle County.
They say the advisory was issued as a precaution due to a water main break within the City of Mount Vernon’s water system, which supplies water for this portion of Kentucky American Water’s service area.
During a boil water advisory, it is recommended that customers boil for three minutes any tap water they intend to use for consumption, such as for drinking, cooking or making ice.
After boiling water, customers should let the water cool before consuming it.
This precautionary advisory is in effect until further notice.

Utility issues boil advisory in St. Joseph

A precautionary boil water advisory went into effect Sunday night in St. Joseph after a water main break.
Missouri American Water said the advisory will be in effect until water quality samples confirm that the water remains safe for consumption.
The affected area includes east to the Belt Highway, Pear St. from South 28th St. east to the Belt, South 28th Street from Pear Street north to U.S. Highway, and Belt Highway from Pear Street north to U.S. Highway 36.
Missouri American Water advises residents to bring their water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.
Tap water is fine for washing and bathing, according to the public service company.

West Virginia American Water has issued a boil-water advisory for approximately 60 customers beginning with Summers County High School going north, including Temple Street, Bass Lake Trailer Park, Fox Addition, Mullens Road, Beymer Lane, Brooks Church Road, Dead End Way, Blackberry Lane, Brooks Mountain Road, Fox Cemetery Road, and Pine Lane in Hinton.

Iowa American Water issues precautionary boil order for main break in Clinton

CLINTON, Ill. (KWQC) — UPDATE: To err on the side of caution, a precautionary boil advisory has been issued for a very limited number of customers in a two-block area in Clinton.
Once repairs are complete and water service is restored, customers on the following two blocks will be under a precautionary boil advisory: — 400 block of South 3rd Street in Clinton — 200 block of 5th Avenue South in Clinton A notice will be posted on these customers’ doors prior to water service being restored.
All other customers in Clinton are NOT under a precautionary boil advisory.
ORIGINAL: Iowa American Water is reporting a large water main break in the Clinton service area that is currently causing a water service interruption and/or low water pressure for some of their Clinton customers.
The break is located at the corner of 5th Avenue South and Third Street in Clinton.
Water company crews are currently operating valves to isolate the main break and minimize the number of customers impacted.
Iowa American Water regrets the inconvenience this emergency repair work is causing some of our customers and thanks them for their patience and understanding.
The crew is working as quickly and safely as possible to get water service restored to those impacted.
It typically it takes 4-6 hours to do emergency repairs on a water main depending on how extensive the repairs are that need to be made.

Update: On Sunday evening (August 5, 2018), Missouri American Water lifted the precautionary boil water advisory issued Saturday for a portion of north St. Louis County in the St. Ann and Overland communities.

Boil water notice lifted for Princeton area

PRINCETON — West Virginia American Water has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for Grass Way, Finch Avenue, Green Acres Loop, Orchard Lane and Damson Road in Princeton, company officials said Thursday.
The advisory was issued following a water main break, which crews have repaired.
Results of water quality testing have confirmed that water quality meets drinking water standards.
Therefore, there is no further need to boil water prior to consumption.
Customers will be notified of the lifting of the advisory by the CodeRED emergency notification system.
