Venetian Isles boil water advisory remains in effect Wednesday

Venetian Isles will remain under a precautionary boil water advisory Wednesday (May 23), the Sewerage and Water Board said.
S&WB officials said testing began overnight to see if contaminants had entered the water system.
The boil water advisory was issued Tuesday after work on a fire hydrant led to a large water main break at 19700 Chef Menteur Highway, according to a statement from the utility.
Water pressure fell below 15 pounds-per-square-inch, considered the minimum threshold to keep contaminants out of the water supply.
"Residents and businesses may be without water and will be under a boil water advisory until further notice," the statement said.
Customers in other areas of the city are not affected and do not need to boil their water, according to the Sewerage & Water Board.
Water needs to be boiled for one full minute in a clean container.

Killiney boil water notice issued

A boil water notice has been issued for the Killiney Beach water system.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued the precautionary notice for residents served by the system in the Central Okanagan west electoral area.
This upgrades a previously issued water quality advisory for this system.
“Increased turbidity in the Okanagan Lake source for the system can interfere with chlorination treatment,” said Bruce Smith, communications officer, in a release.
Approximately 280 properties connected to the community water system off located off Westside Road are affected and roadside sign notices are in place to let residents know about the boil water notice.
“After consulting with Interior Health it’s now recommended that all Killiney Beach water customers follow IH guidelines and boil all water intended for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages, ice or brushing teeth for at least one minute or customers should use a safe alternative to water from the tap such as bottled or distilled water,” Smith said.
The notice continues until further notice and turbidity returns to normal operating levels within acceptable guidelines for Canadian drinking water quality.

Town of Ontario under boil water advisory due to possible contamination

ONTARIO, N.Y. — Residents of the town of Ontario are under a boil water advisory for the next few days due to possible contaminants that may have seeped in early Sunday morning.
At approximately 3 a.m. a water main break caused a leak near the entrance of the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant along Lake Road.
The water main break has since been repaired.
“All the residents within the town are in a water boil advisory.
I do want to make sure that’s clear, it’s only the town of Ontario.
The disinfectant of the soaps will take care of it.
If you want to err to caution on the dishes, use bottled water or boiling water,” added Cummings.
Residents said they aren’t too concerned, but wanted to take the safe approach stocking up on water to make sure their family members and pets are safe.
“When an outside source lets it infiltrate into the system because it’s going through soil and sediment you could have bacteria from a whole slew of wastes that are in the ground, the coliforms, fecal, e-coli.
Cummings says something like this has never happened and it’s the first ever town-wide boil water advisory.
