City of Miles under mandatory boil water notice

Miles, Tx – Update 1/3/19 10:35 am – Due to water system failure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Miles Public Water System to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use.
The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
The city of Miles has issued a mandatory boil water notice for all their residents… due to a water system failure.
To ensure its citizens aren’t exposed to possible harmful bacteria… the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has asked the city to issue the notice.
Officials also suggest purchasing bottled water or seeking water from another source.
Water system officials will alert citizens as soon as the water boil notice has been lifted.

Chariton Hy-Vee handing out free water after boil advisory

CHARITON – The local Chariton Hy-Vee is stepping up to help residents affected by the latest boil advisory in the city.
Friday, January 4, the Chariton Hy-Vee will be handing out free 24-packs of water to residents affected by the boil advisory in their city.
The free packs will be available between 10 AM and 4 PM Friday.
The boil advisory was issued Thursday when the Chariton Water supply had a problem with its distribution system, resulting in the system losing pressure.
With the potential for bacterial contamination, the Chariton Municipal Water Supply is recommending that water be boiled before use for drinking or cooking or that alternative sources be used.

UPDATE: Cushing boil advisory has been lifted

CUSHING, Iowa (KTIV) – Officials in Cushing have lifted a water boil advisory in the city.
Officials say the Cushing Water Supply had a scheduled pressure loss Wednesday as part of a planned connection to the distribution system.
Officials say the samples from the water contained no bacteria.
Residents with questions are asked to call City Hall at (712) 384-2189.

City of Spearman provides update on water main break, boil water advisory

SPEARMAN, Texas (KVII) — The City of Spearman is planning to work on repairing the broken water main on Hancock Street on Friday and possibly over the weekend.
According to the City, in order to repair the line, it is necessary to depressurize the entire water system.
This will mean that some customers will experience loss of water pressure and possibly loss of water services for a short period of time.
The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the repairs are made and proper testing can take place.
The City is currently anticipating that the water boil advisory will remain in effect until the close of business on Tuesday.

According to the town’s website , the utility provides water service to about 3,300 customers.
At around 7:30 a.m., public works crews were busy visiting restaurants and other businesses to notify people about the advisory.

‘Sizable’ water line break triggers boil water alert in Satellite Beach, South Patrick Shores

The city of Melbourne has declared a beachside boil water alert for residents and businesses from DeSoto Parkway in Satellite Beach northward to the Pineda Causeway in South Patrick Shores.

Crews isolated the broken pipe by 4 p.m., and repairs were expected to begin about 5, Mall said.
The boil water notice is affecting 5,000 to 6,000 households and businesses, Mall said.
Satellite Beach City Manager Courtney Barker said "we have gotten calls all morning" from residents reporting low water pressure, starting at about 7 a.m. "As a city, we worry about our businesses with these boil water notices.
And that area’s the lowest elevation in the city, by South Patrick Drive — especially the north Satellite Beach area.
Melbourne supplies drinking water across to an estimated 170,000 residents across southern Brevard, including Melbourne, West Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach, Satellite Beach, Palm Shores, Melbourne Village and adjacent unincorporated areas.
Text of Melbourne’s notification: "Water pressure in the area has dropped below the minimum system requirements as work is underway to search for the cause.
For questions or to report anything unusual, beachside residents should call Melbourne’s public works and utilities administration office at 321-608-5000 (daytime) or 321-255-4622 (after-hours).
Rick Mariani, vice president of the South Patrick Residents Association, noticed the water pressure drop while gardening about 8 a.m. Thursday.

Boil water advisory issued for part of Village of Albion

(WIVB) – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office is warning some Village of Albion residents to boil their water after a water main sustained a substantial break resulting in a loss of pressure on Tuesday.
The affected areas are the Main Street business district, north of the Erie Canal to Bacon Road South.
Affected residents are asked to bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and let it cool before using fkr drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

VILLAGE OF ALBION, N.Y. (WKBW) — Parts of the Village of Albion is under a boil water alert because of a water main break.
However, people who live north of the Erie Canal or in the business district from Bank Street to the Canal are being told to boil water for about a minute for the next three or four days.

However, there is a Boil Water Advisory, county dispatchers said.
The advisory was issued due to a loss of water pressure in the village.
The notice stated that at around 12:30 a.m. today, a 10-inch water main sustained “a substantial break” leading to the loss of pressure or of water in the affected area.
“When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your water.” People in the affected area will likely need to boil water for the next three or four days, according to the notice.
To boil water before using it, bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute and cool the water before using it, the notice said.
The other choice is to use bottled water certified for sale by the state Department of Health.
“Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice,” the notice reads.
“Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms, and may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems,” the notice read.
If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice.” Crews had been out working on a broken water main under Main Street earlier in the day.
