Atwood officials issue precautionary boil water notice
ATWOOD, Tenn. — A message to residents in the Atwood area.
Due to a water main leak, pressure in some areas of the Atwood water system may have dropped below state mandated levels.
As a result, officials are issuing a precautionary boil water notice.
Officials say customers should take a few steps before using the water for drinking or food preparation.
Prior to boiling water it should be strained through a clean cloth, and the water should be brought to a boil for at least one minute.
While no contaminants are known to have entered the water supply, the possibility does exist due to the low pressures.
Officials say they will make an announcement when the problem has been fixed.

Boil water advisory canceled for Overbrook
TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment canceled a boil water advisory Sunday for Overbrook in Osage County.
The advisory was issued because of a line break, resulting in a loss of pressure in the system.
Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.
Laboratory testing samples collected from the City of Overbrook indicate no evidence of contamination and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved.

Boil water advisory in effect at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi
Officials at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi issued a boil water notice because of a water main break that caused low water pressure.
According to two posts on the air station’s official Facebook page, the alert was issued at 10:35 p.m. Saturday.
The posts state the water is safe to use for showering and washing hands, but should be boiled before drinking, using for cooking or brushing teeth.
The latter post states the main break was discovered about 8:50 p.m. Saturday and was repaired around 10:15 p.m.
The post says the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mandated the boil water notice.
The base is flushing the system throughout the day Sunday until an adequate level of residuals from the system’s disinfectant, chloramine, is present, the post states.
Samples will be sent to a lab Monday for analysis.
It’s not clear when the notice will be lifted, or whether the recent rain event contributed to the issue.
