Leonville under boil advisory

(KLFY) – The town of Leonville has experienced problems with its water supply system.
A 3-inch main water line was broken due to a contractor digging to replace a cross culvert in the area. Town personnel are repairing the line; and will be flushing the area.
Therefore, as a precaution, the town of Leonville Water System is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately. This advisory is to remain in effect until rescinded by the town of Leonville Water System.
The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

Part of Richland County under boil water advisory

The affected area includes Pinestraw Road, from Two Notch Road to Circle Dr., including Holiday Ct. and Magnolia Ct.
The advisory comes after the City experienced an eight-inch main break. This could possibly result in bacterial contamination of the water on Pinestraw Rd., Holiday Ct. and Magnolia Park Ct.
The division is currently working to fix the problem.
All food processors and restaurants should comply with prescribed USDA and SC DHEC recommendations, respectively. Should you have any questions pertaining to this advisory, please call the Lexington/Richland County Environmental Services at 896-0620. Boil-water advisory issued for Union Springs, Springport areas

The Cayuga County Health Department on Saturday advised residents of the Village of Union Springs public water system and residents within the Town of Springport Water District Number 1 to boil their water after a loss of pressure due to a water line repair.
The advisory said that tap water should be brought to a rolling boil, boiled for one minute, and cooled before using. Another option would be using bottled water certified for sale by the state Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
The water system lost pressure due to a water line repair. When water mains lose pressure it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your drinking water.
Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms and may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems. But these symptoms are not just caused by microbes in drinking water.
The health department said that once the repairs are completed, the Village of Union Springs and Town of Springport will take samples to confirm there is no contamination in the distribution system. It is anticipated that the Boil Water Order will remain in effect for a few days.

Boil water advisory issued for Union Springs, parts of Springport in Cayuga County

SPRINGPORT, N.Y. — Some residents in Cayuga County are being asked to boil their water or use bottled water after a pipe malfunction Saturday, according to the health department.
Residents in the Springport Water District 1 — the Village of Union Springs and people living along Route 90 north and south of the village — are affected by the advisory.
The water system lost pressure during a water line repair, which could have allowed untreated water with harmful microbes to get into the drinking water, said Kathleen Cuddy, the county’s public health director.
The microbes can cause diarrhea, nausea, cramps, headaches or other symptoms that could be worse in children, older adults and people with poor immune systems, the department stated.
Health officials said people should allow water to boil for one minute before using it, and that boiled or bottled water should be used for cooking, drinking, making ice brushing teeth or washing dishes until further notice.
The Cayuga County Health Department will notify residents when the boil water advisory has been lifted, but said it could be in place for a few days while pipe repairs are finished and samples are done of the drinking water.

Boil advisory issued after East Macon water main break | The Telegraph

A boil advisory was issued early Friday after a 12-inch water main break in East Macon.
The perimeter of the boil advisory includes south of Highway 129 (to the northwest) and Joy Cliff Road (to the northeast), and north of Ga. 80 and Jeffersonville Road, according to a news release.
Also included is the area south of Riggins Mill Road and north of Interstate 16/Ga. Those within the impacted areas may experience low pressure or no water service.
Those who are now without any water can expect to have their service restored within one to two days, which means some customers could be without water until Sunday, said Tony Rojas, president and executive director of the Macon Water Authority.
The number of customers without water was not immediately available, with the water authority working on maps that will show those under the boil advisory as well as those without water service, Rojas said.
The industrial park was not impacted, he said.
Water was shut off at the site of the water main break Thursday night, with crews working overtime to restore water service as soon as possible, the release said.
After a 24-hour period of testing and monitoring the water quality, the water authority will conduct a final bacteria test to confirm water in the impacted areas of the system is safe to drink again, the release said.

About 100 Jerome homes under boil advisory

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Crews working to connect a new water main Wednesday afternoon left about 100 homes temporarily without water in southeastern Jerome.
Rick Wuori, city engineer and interim public works director, said they expect water to be restored sometime Wednesday evening. City officials issued a boil advisory for those effected residents. The city plans to have water samples collected and tested for possible contaminants.
The city expects test results on Friday.
Wuori said construction crews have been working to install a new water main along East Avenue I and turned water off in the early afternoon to make the final connections.
“Anytime you depressurized the system you have the potential for something to get in,” he said.
The area impacted includes homes on South Buchanan Street between East Avenue H and East Avenue I.

Melbourne to announce boil water update today

The city announced Friday night the break was repaired and water pressure issues were solved, but the boil water notice is still in effect.
The city will announce the results of tests on the water supply Sunday and will say if it is safe to end the boil advisory.
Precautionary Boil Water Notices may be issued because of water system loss of power, loss of water pressure, a water main (pipe) break or other unforeseen emergency.
The notice does not mean that the water is contaminated — it means it is possible for contaminants to enter the pipes and affect drinking water. Until required bacteriological testing is completed, we recommend — as a precaution — boiling tap water before consuming it to kill any potential contaminants, or using bottled water.
How long should water be boiled?
Fill a pot with cold water and start timing when steady streams of bubbles pop from the bottom of the pot. Water must be adequately cooled before it can be used for washing or brushing teeth. Store the boiled water in clean, covered containers.

Boil order in effect for Melbourne

Restaurants may be feeling the biggest impact, like Squid Lips, which stayed open Friday night. Not being able to use the city’s water is tough on just about everybody.
That’s just one of the costs of keeping a restaurant in business when you have to boil the water before drinking it. Dishes have to be hand-washed and dried now, too. The city’s not only asking people to boil water before drinking or cooking with it; it’s asking people to flush less, bathe less and launder less. You can’t even brush your teeth normally.
"I’ve got a 4-year-old and you have to use bottled water to rinse his mouth because he may accidentally swallow some and you don’t want him to get sick," homeowner Eric Sprauer said.
But it’s one thing to have to change your habits, and quite another to see the small businesses that employ the city’s workers get hit.
