Pakistan ranks third in the world among countries facing acute water shortage and no person in the Pakistan shall be immune to this shortage, Pakistan touched the water Stress Line in 1990 and crossed the water scarcity line in 2005 and yet the different regimes of power remains negligent towards this water sensitivity.
But with new face as PM of Pakistan who is more concerned about the water crises in Pakistan and warns of draught threat and appeals for donation for the construction of dams.

Though think tanks of the Pakistan alarmed about the upcoming calamity in the country but the same has gone to the deaf ears of the people at the helm of affairs.

TANK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Dec, 2018 ) :Residents of several villages in the district have been facing hard times due to non-availability of clean drinking water and are forced to use pond water for drinking purpose and daily use.
Dozens of villages have no access to potable water as civic body has totally failed to supply provision of drinking water.

Scott County resolving water outages; limited boil water advisory in effect

1 / 1 Scott County WEBER CITY — Scott County residents who experienced water outages due to the snowstorm should have normal water pressure by midnight tonight, according to estimates from the Scott County Public Service Authority.
Mike Dishman, executive director of the SCPSA, said AEP had restored power to all of the county’s water facilities by around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
“It was the power outage at the Cliff Mountain pump stations that resulted in the water outage,” Dishman said Wednesday afternoon.
“Currently, we are refilling the system at a rate of about 500 gallons per minute, so our Cliff Mountain and Mabe/Stanleytown storage tanks and the water mains fed by those tanks that are empty will be refilling this (Wednesday) afternoon.
We estimate that by midnight tonight (Wednesday) these two tanks will be full and all customers will have normal water pressure.” Customers who experienced a water outage are under a boil water advisory, Dishman said.
As stated on the SCPSA’s website, “The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) advises that in the event of a water outage, after water service is restored customers should take the precaution of not drinking their tap water without first heating the water to a rolling boil and holding it there for one minute.
When your water comes back on, you should first open all the taps in your house and flush them until the water is clear.
After flushing your faucets and other taps, VDH calls for the extra step of boiling the water before consuming.
This precaution is due to the potential for the loss of pressure in a water system to allow contamination to enter the distribution pipes.” “We will be collecting a series of bacteriological water samples from the affected areas over the next two to three days,” Dishman said, “and will lift the boil water advisory when the test results of all samples over two consecutive days are negative for coliform bacteria.” For more information, visit scottcountypsa.myruralwater.com.

FACTBOX-Places where water is scarce and getting scarcer

LONDON, Dec 7 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – Water scarcity affects almost half the world’s population, a number that is expected to rise in the coming decades even as global warming, population growth, urbanisation and rising agricultural needs put further strain on supplies.
The issue was on Friday’s agenda in the Polish town of Katowice, where representatives of more than 190 countries have come together for U.N.-sponsored climate talks.
Following is information on some of the countries most threatened by water scarcity.
More than half of Niger’s 20 million people do not have access to clean water.
Only one in 10 people has access to a decent toilet.
About 10 percent of Pakistan’s population does not have access to clean water.
In 1947, the figure stood at about 5,000 cubic metres per person.
Today it is 1,000 cubic metres.
Pakistan has more glaciers than any other country outside the polar region.
In Sudan, a country of 43 million people, only 2 percent of water is available for domestic use.

Former lawyer-investment banker from Down Under on a solo run to highlight how water scarcity will paralyse several countries in the near future if we don’t take measures now Sprinting 42 km every day for 100 days in 20 countries is the level of commitment Mina Guli, 48, has towards her mission to spread awareness about the growing water crisis across the world.

Without it, there is no society, no economy, no power, no food and no life.
Yet, nobody is talking about it.
"I realised how big the problem was.
So I started to run, because running is my way of going around the world and uniting people on an issue.
Highlighting unsung heroes When asked why she picked these countries, she said, "I have chosen the ones where the crisis is bigger but people are trying to find solutions; I want to highlight these people."
Besides spreading the word to save every drop of water, Guli’s aim is to find stories of unsung heroes, who are making efforts within their communities to save the precious resource.

Water outage scheduled for Monday for some Brunswick County residents

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Some Brunswick County Public Utilities customers will be without water Monday, Dec, 3.
According to county officials, the water outage is scheduled due to construction.
Customers from 5798 Bethel Rd to the end of Bethel Rd and adjoining subdivisions in between will not have water starting at 9 a.m. until around 5 p.m. Monday.
This outage in the system increases the potential for back siphonage and bacteria into the water system.
Because of that, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the Division of Water Resources asks that residents boil all water before consuming for at least one minute or use bottled water.

PFOA contamination limited near industrial park, DEC says

KINGSBURY — Residents on Dean and Bardin roads are breathing a sigh of relief after tests found most of their wells are not contaminated with PFOA.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation went door to door last month and asked for permission to test every well near W. F. Lake Corp., a business in the Airport Industrial Park of Warren and Washington Counties.
Only one other well was contaminated, officials said Tuesday.
The first contaminated well tested at a PFOA level of 96 parts per trillion.
PFOA is considered a danger to human health at 70 parts per trillion.
DEC installed filter systems on both wells, at no cost to the homeowners.
Officials are in the process of testing five more wells, but the results so far seem to indicate that there is not a widespread drinking water contamination problem, they said.
If the company was unwilling, the state could still test the land, but the company is working with DEC, officials said.
The agency is still interested in testing wells.
In that case, St. Gobain Performance Plastics is located close to the village’s wells.

Well that provides water to Saugerties Comfort Inn is contaminated, DEC finds

Well that provides water to Saugerties Comfort Inn is contaminated, DEC finds.
The Comfort Inn is not near any of the village-owned water lines.
Several years ago, according to Michael Hopf, village water superintendent, the owner of the Howard Johnson hooked up to a village water line by the Land and Sea Restaurant on Route 212.
The village water department put a water meter on Howard Johnson’s hydrant while it was supplying water to the Comfort Inn to keep track of how much water was used.
Meanwhile, the owner of the Sunoco service station across Route 32 from the Comfort Inn was ordered to hire a company to find out whether the leak was coming from his gas station.
Ahmed Biooa, manager of the gas station, said last week that nothing had been found in any of the ditches dug around the station by American Petroleum of Albany.
American had been called in to find out if there was a leak at the gas station, and if so, where.
State DEC officials told him that it did not appear there was a current leak, but there may have been a leak at one time, Hopf said.
The Sunoco station and the Comfort Inn are near the Winston Farm, being considered by the village water department as a secondary source of water for customers.
“Maybe the Comfort Inn and the Sunoco station can ask to be allowed to tie in to that line,” Hopf said.
