Navy releases OLF water test results, sets meetings.
The Navy drilled 27 test wells at OLF Coupeville earlier this year and tested water samples from the 25 that contained water.
The wells with the exceedances were centralized, she said, which appears to be consistent with potential releases on the runway.
The impetus was the EPA’s decision last year to set a lifetime advisory level for the chemicals, followed by a directive from top Navy leaders that called for all Navy bases to look into the possibility that the chemicals had contaminated drinking water.
So far, the Navy received 112 results from properties near OLF Coupeville and seven are above the advisory level.
The Navy has 99 results from properties near Ault Field; two samples are above the advisory level.
Officials have started looking into longer-term solutions for people with contaminated wells.
Officials will first have to evaluate the filters to determine how well they would work and long they would be effective.
The drilling of test wells on Navy property at OLF Coupeville is the beginning of a process to determine the source of the chemicals.
The test results, Leibman said, point to the complexity of hydrogeology in the Central Whidbey area.

Jigawa to distribute 5, 000 hand pumps, tube wells to farmers.
The Jigawa Government on Wednesday, said it would make available 5, 000 water pumps and tube wells in farmlands to check perennial water scarcity experienced by farmers in the state.
The state deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, made this disclosure at the inauguration of a weed clearance exercise in Kirikasamma, Jigawa.
Hassan said the State Government had worked out modalities to construct tube wells in the 5, 000 hectares of farmlands to encourage irrigation agriculture.
He stated that one water pump and a tube well would be provided in each hectare of the farmlands.
Hassan said that the tube wells and water pumps would be provided to the farmers to address the problem and encourage production.
“This is to provide lands for cultivation and enhance effective utilisation of water and agricultural resources”.
The deputy governor lauded the community leaders for mobilising participation in agriculture, adding that the trend would encourage food production and enhance wealth creation in the society.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Hadejia valley project was initiated by the Federal Government in the 1980s to encourage irrigation activities, enhance fishery and water supply to communities.
The greater part of the river was ravaged by typher grass, which affected irrigation activities.

Drought is over, but restricitons remain.
The task force uses a five point scale to designate drought conditions, with normal being the lowest designation.
Although Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton still has to approve these recommendations, it would be safe to say that the drought in Foxboro is officially over.
That’s because these restrictions are designed to keep Foxboro’s water use under 65 gallons per-person, per-day, and are not a response to a drought designation, or lack thereof.
Houses with wells are exempt from all these restrictions.
This small overage made it so Foxboro had to put in place draconian water bans in town when the area was under a drought designation last summer, a designation that stretched into this very month in one form or another.
Worthley said that unless the town falls under a high drought designation again, the restriction will stay in place.
Brown water Additionally, Worthley spoke to recent incidents involving the town water system.
On the April 20 to 24 low water pressure and brown water experienced by residents in the Main Street area, Worthley said that a new valve, designed to move water from the high pressure part the of the system around Route 1 to the lower pressure area around Main Street let in a big surge of water, kicking up sediment and causing brown water.
Worthley said that high water use during this time period exacerbated the low pressure and brown water situation, and that only additional rainfall allowed for the water tower on Route 1 to refill, allowing for enough water to enter the system and solve both issues.

DNR to provide clean drinking water for contaminated wells.
LUXEMBURG, Wis. (WLUK) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is planning to provide clean drinking water to people whose wells are contaminated by manure runoff.
So Wagner and his family drink bottled water.
“I only get one gallon of water per hour,” Wagner told us As a Kewaunee County Board member, Wagner is happy to hear about the DNR’s program to provide clean water to his constituents dealing with similar struggles.
Wagner told FOX 11 he can’t benefit from the DNR’s program because the water that comes out of his well is only contaminated with nitrates, not bacteria.
We still haven’t found any bacteria, which is a good thing,” he explained.
Wagner said this is a good step, but: “How come this didn’t come out sooner?”
In statement, the DNR said several programs worked together to take this step as quickly as possible.
The DNR will only provide clean water for six months.
That year-old program is for people with contaminated wells in the Kewaunee and southern Door County area.
