Boil alert remains for Youngstown’s West Side and Austintown’s East Side

The boil alert for water used for drinking and cooking recommended Friday by the Youngstown Water Department for areas of Youngstown’s West Side and Austintown’s East Side remained in effect Saturday, according to the Austintown Police Department.
All residents contained within the boundary east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road, and west of Belle Vista Avenue are affected.
In its boil alert notification, the Youngstown Water Department said it would notifiy affected costumers as soon as possible when the water has been tested and is considered safe.
A roiling boil for one minute is adequate to make the water safe.
The water depressurization Friday that caused disruption to the water line resulted from a power outage.

Boil alert for parts of Youngstown and Austintown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Water Department has issued a boil advisory for portions of Youngstown’s west side and Austintown’s east side until further notice.
Officials say a power outage disrupted a major supply line late Friday, resulting in low water pressure for homes and businesses in neighborhoods east and west of Meridian Road.
The department is recommending that all Youngstown Water customers in the affected area boil their water that is used for drinking and cooking.
A roiling boil for one minute is adequate.
All residents contained within the boundary East of Raccoon Rd, North of New Rd and West of Belle Vista Ave. See below map for further detail.
The water department says customers will be notified that the alert has been lifted when the water has been tested and considered safe.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is now requiring that all cities follow this procedure for all depressurization of drinking water lines.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Youngstown water department has issued a water boil alert for people on the west side of Youngstown and the east side of Austintown.
You are included in this alert if you live in the blue area on this map.
That’s anyone east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road and West of Belle Vista Avenue.
You need to boil your water for at least one minute before drinking it or cooking with it.
The Youngstown Water Department lost power, yesterday and that lead to a loss of pressure in one of their major water lines.
The water is being tested throughout the day.

Boil alert issued for Youngstown’s West Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Late Friday night, the Youngstown Water Department experienced a water depressurization event due to a disruption of a major distribution waterline.
The failure affected customers on the West Side of Youngstown and east side of Austintown.
Due to the low water pressure that resulted from the disruption, the Youngstown Water Department is recommending all water customers in the affected area east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road and west of Belle Vista Avenue boil their water that is used for drinking and cooking.
A roiling boil for one minute is adequate, Dan Blakely, engineering assistant for the city, wrote in an email to the media.
