Thousands of properties across Tameside have been hit by contaminated water problems on Sunday.

United Utilities, who are responsible for the supply, say they are working to fix the problem which has been caused by a technical fault at a treatment works at Buckton Castle, near Mossley.

They are advising residents to boil all water for drinking or for cleaning food.

It is not yet clear when the problem will be fixed.
