Update: Boil advisory rescinded for Bossier Parish

The boil advisory was rescinded today after tests on water samples came back negative for contaminants.

Original story:

The City of Bossier City has issued a boil advisory for a portion of Bossier Parish that receives its water from the city.

The advisory is for all residents and businesses along Kingston Road from approximately Willow Chute Bayou to Airline Drive, including Kingston Elementary School, Shiloh Baptist Church, Kingston Crossing Apartments and the St. Charles Court Subdivision.

The advisory is being issued due to a drop in water pressure in the area and the subsequent loss of water service while utility department crews worked to repair a fire hydrant on Kingston Road which was struck and damaged by a motor vehicle this morning. Water service to the area has since been restored.

The advisory is a precautionary measure and recommends those in the affected area to boil their water for one minute before consuming it until the advisory is rescinded. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again, the advisory is a precautionary measure and not a boil order.

The city will notify the media when the advisory is rescinded.
