Fountain City, WI (WXOW) – The City of Fountain City has lifted the Boil Water Notice issued after bacteria was found during testing of the water supply.
The city implemented the notice on Saturday.
Since then, the city’s website said they’ve completed their treatment of the water system and that the city water is safe to use.
The City of Fountain City want residents to boil their water after testing found coliform bacteria in a home’s water supply.
The positive test happened during routine testing done around the city.
In a notice posted on the city’s website, the Fountain City Waterworks implemented the boil water notice Friday.
What it means for residents is that the unsafe water may contain harmful bacteria such as E. Coli or fecal coliform.
The notice said the city will flush, disinfect, and retest the their distribution system. Until that is finished and the tests come back negative for the bacteria, the boil water notice will remain in effect.
The city recommends several precautions residents should take. They include:
-Throwing out any ice, food, or beverages prepared with unsafe water.
-For residents using boiled water, the water should be heated to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
-Ice or any food should be made from either boiled water or bottled water.
