Water scarcity: Sopore residents protest against PHE
Protestors said they have brought the matter to the notice of concerned authorities but nothing has been done to restore water supply in the area.
Scores of residents of Green Town bypass Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest against the alleged failure of Public Health Engineering department in providing drinking water to residents.
The protesters which included women said they had been facing shortage of water for the past one month.
Protestors said they have brought the matter to the notice of concerned authorities but nothing has been done to restore water supply in the area.
Meanwhile senior officer at PHE division Sopore said that the department was working hard to provide regular water supply through Watlab water scheme to the area.
The officer said that already higher authorities had approved this scheme for the area and work on this scheme will be started soon.
He said that currently water tankers were sent to the area to help people tide over the crisis.
