Water to be shut off in Laplace at 10 PM due to water line break
LAPLACE, La.
— Water will be shut off in Laplace Wednesday night at 10 p.m.
According to a release from the Parish government, the St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department will shut off water pressure to customers in Laplace after a private contractor ruptured a water main.
The outage should last 3-to-4 hours.
A precautionary boil water advisory will follow after water pressure is restored.
The boil advisory will remain in effect until parish officials say otherwise.
It usually takes 24 hours for water samples to be processed.
"It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation by boiling water for one (1) full minute in a clean container," a release from the parish said.
"The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise."
