A boil advisory has been issued or customers of Iberia Water Works District 3 after equipment failure at the plant caused low pressure throughout the distribution system.
The advisory is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
Sample results are expected within 48 hours.
Those affected should disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation and rinsing food.
Boil the water for one full minute in a clean container.
The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
Several customers’ calls went unanswered earlier due to the influx of calls the system received, according to a spokesman with Iberia Water Works District 3.
