Multiple boil water advisories placed for Battle Creek residents

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The city of Battle Creek will be performing improvement and repair work on the water system on Wednesday, May 9, which will cause a boil water advisory for multiple areas.
Those included in the advisory can be seen below: On Cherry Street between Elm Street and Union Street On Elm Street between Clay Street and Cherry Street On West Street between Champion Street and Garfield Avenue On College Street between Glenwood Avenue and Garfield Avenue On Eagle Street between West Street and College Street On Kendall Street between Parkway Drive and Roseneath Avenue On Helen Montgomery Avenue between Kendall Street and Howland Street Through the extent of the advisories, which is expected to last a minimum of 24 hours, the city advises that those included in the above areas boil water prior to consumption.
As an alternative, using bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation can be used in place of cooled boiled water.
In addition to repairs, the city will also be collection water samples to ensure the quality of water meets state drinking water standards.
