Charlestown under boil water advisory due to large water main break
Jeffersonville — The City of Charlestown has reported a major water main break that has not been located.
Due to the impact on Charlestown schools, Greater Clark County Schools Corp. dismissed those students early.
Charlestown High School dismissed at 10 a.m., Charlestown Middle School at 10:15 a.m., and Jonathan Jennings and Pleasant Ridge elementary schools at 10:45 a.m.
The district is also experiencing phone issues at Charlestown Middle School.
Parents/guardians can call 502-974-4793 in order to reach the school or can contact the GCCS Administration Building at 812-283-0701.
According to the City of Charlestown’s Facebook page, the break is causing lower water pressure.
All customers are under a boil water advisory.
Crews are doing a "grid by grid isolation procedure" to determine where the break occurred.
