PIGEON ROOST, Ky. (WYMT) – Because of the many water issues affecting thousands of people in Martin County, a townhall-style meeting was held in the Pigeon Roost community.
About fifty people showed up to the Pigeon Roost Community Center to ask questions to officials from the Martin County Water Board and the Martin County Water District.
Despite the flood of emotions including frustration and uncertainty, organizers hoped this meeting would help put people in the community at ease.

Some businesses closed while the water was out.
"We’ve got mutual aid agreements with other departments that if we run low on water or if we just need extra assistance, they’ll come", said Eric Jude, Chief of the Pigeon Roost Fire Department.
"My grandma is 90 years old and on a fixed income, cannot afford that rate increase.
"If we can get our service lines fixed, then the board has to make a decision on what is most feasible", said Kerr.
Kerr says water in Martin County will be shut off overnight Tuesday into Wednesday to make sure the water tanks have enough time to replenish.
