Tania Savayan, tsavayan@lohud.com MOUNT PLEASANT – A water main break has caused officials to issue a boil water order for about 170 Valhalla homes.
The water main break occurred on Roosevelt Drive on Thursday and was repaired that night, Mount Pleasant said in an email.
Residents in the area have been advised to boil their water before consuming it, though, as the Kensico Water District collects water samples and tests them for bacteriological contaminants.
The advisory will be in effect at least until Sunday.
After a water main break, people in the area are urged to boil their water for one minute before using it to drink, cook, bake, wash dishes, make ice cubes, or brush their teeth.
Water does not need to be boiled for showering or washing clothes.
