Boil water advisory issued after main breaks in Fonda
FONDA — Village of Fonda residents have been issued a boil water advisory until further notice due to a water main break, authorities said.
A water main break on Hickory Hill Road on Monday morning led to water services needing to be shut off until Monday evening to allow Department of Public Works crews to repair the break, officials said.
Those affected by the water main break resided on Hickory Hill Road from the reservoir to Route 5 with users on Route 5, Pilling Drive and Perry Lane.
Residents affected by the water main break were issued notices by the village.
Fonda-Fultonville Central School District canceled all evening activities Monday evening, including athletic events and the Board of Education meeting, because the campus had no running water.
Under the boil water notice, all water for consumption in the village should be brought to a boil for two minutes and allowed to cool before using, officials said.
