GALENA, Kan. – Update: Water services are running again in Galena after a water main break.
However, the city is now under a boil water advisory.
Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water.
Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled.
Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
Previous story: Water service has been shut off to the City of Galena due to a water main break.
The Public Works Department is currently working to repair the break as quickly as possible.
Solid waste workers are also assisting with the break, so residents may see a delay in trash pick up.
