A water boil advisory is in effect in a section of the Natchitoches Water Works #1 Distribution System.
The advisory affects the area west of Interstate 49, according to a news release.
The water system is experiencing low pressure along La. Highway 6 West caused by contractor damage to service lines, the release said.
“Because of this drop in system pressure, the water within our water distribution system is of questionable microbiological quality,” the release said.
Until further notice, customers in the affected area should disinfect their water before consuming it.
To do so, boil water for five minutes in a clean container; or mix 30 drops of unscented liquid chlorine laundry bleach with one gallon of water and let it stand for at least 30 minutes before drinking.
