Repairs underway as boil water advisory remains in effect for Rostraver Township.
WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. – Dozens of people in Rostraver Township are without running water while others are under a boil advisory.
About 65 customers were without running water or had very low water pressure.
The Municipal Authority said the advisory was issued for State Route 51, Smith Road, Lynn Road, Port Royal Road, West McClain Road and Timms Road because of a 16-inch water main break that caused a loss of positive water pressure.
The authority said the broken water main was under repair Friday and repairs were expected to be complete by Friday evening.
As a result, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms,” the authority said in a statement.
Anyone under the advisory should bring all water to a boil, allow it to bubble for one minute and then cool before using.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.
The authority said inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms like nausea, cramps, diarrhea and associated headaches.
