Area in Manheim Borough under boil water advisory amid repairs
Residents in several Manheim Borough neighborhoods are advised to boil their water as a precaution through the end of the month as water and sewer authorities aim to repair an emergency water main break.
The advisory by the Manheim Area Water and Sewer Authority is in effect from Nov. 28 through Nov. 30 and affects homes and businesses located on North Main Street, between East High Street, north, to West Gramby Street.
Residents of those streets have been notified, MAWSA states in a news release.
Customers in other areas receiving water from the authority are not affected, according to MAWSA, and do not need to boil their water.
To properly boil water, MAWSA states water must be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.
Boiled water should be cooled before using and placed in clean, covered containers afterward.
The authority states water should only be boiled for any consumption purposes, such as drinking, brushing teeth, and hand washing dishes.
Showering with pre-boiled water is not hazardous, according to the authority’s news release.
