Boil advisory affects parts of northern Boone County

originally posted on February 08, 2017

The Xenia Rural Water District is advising residents of Xenia’s Eastern portion of the North Water Service Area to boil water before consumption following a water main break north of the city of Stratford.

The district is in the process of repairing the water main. The attached map shows the area affected by the boil advisory.

It is recommended to only drink water that has been boiled first.

Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that might be in the water due to the main break. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes. After repairs are made to the water main, the district will test the water to ensure it is safe for consumption.

Notice will be given to the residents when the boil advisory is been lifted.
