Boil advisory issued for Daviess County due to water main leak
A boil advisory has been issued for a large portion of Daviess County due to a water main leak Monday morning.
OMU is asking that everyone bring their water to a rolling boil for three minutes before consumption.
OMU says the boil precaution is only for consuming.
The water is safe for bathing.
According to OMU, most customers don’t have water.
The Owensboro Police Department said a water main on East 4th Street began to leak Monday morning.
OMU is asking customers to prepare for an extended water outage as crews work to excavate the broken main.
Authorities are asking for everyone to avoid the area while OMU crews work to stop the leak.
The area between Birkhead Avenue and Leitchfield Road on East 4th Street has been blocked off.
