JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – The Jefferson Township Regional Water Authority issued a boil advisory Friday.

The order affects all of the water provider’s nearly 1500 customers in rural areas of Farmersville, Germantown, Jefferson Township, Miami Township, Miamisburg, Moraine, Trotwood and West Carrollton.

The company says a bacteria was found in the most recent lab test of the water and they are flushing the system now. Officials say it usually takes about 48 hours to deal with an issue like this but stress that the boil advisory will remain in effect until a notice is sent from the company cancelling the advisory.

Water to be used for drinking, cooking or brushing teeth should be boiled for five minutes before using it.

Officials say the boil advisory was issued to be cautious.
