Boil advisory issued for Sunset

A boil advisory was issued Monday  for the entire town of Sunset to install a valve on the main line, according to the St. Landry Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The advisory affects about 3,600 people in the area.

Officials with the town of Sunset shut off water service for the entire town beginning at 5 p.m. Monday. The water was to be off for about two hours.

To disinfect water for drinking, cooking and other uses, boil it for one full minute. The one-minute boil begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. You can eliminate the flat taste by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one container to another or adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water you boil.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
