Boil order follows water main break in Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE — A boil-water order was issued Wednesday for the southeastern corner of this village due to a nasty water main break on Lake Flower Avenue.
Under a boil-water advisory, water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute to kill protozoa, bacteria and viruses before it is consumed or used to brush teeth or wash dishes.
We’re down to the pipe, and hopefully we can make the repair shortly.
“It’s in a bad spot,” he added.
“We’ve already had two previous problems in the same general vicinity.” Sandy soil made the job harder since it kept caving in as crews dug, Dora said.
“We could still be a couple more hours,” Dora said.
Meanwhile, the DPW was also called out to a second water line break on Dewey Lane, off Lake Street.
“Not a fun day,” Dora said.
