BOONE COUTY, Mo. – Residents in parts of Boone County are under a boil water advisory through the end of the week.

The Consolidated Public Water Supply District #1 issued a precautionary advisory on Thursday morning.

It effects the Gateway South Subdivision on Route K and the Leatherwood Hills Store at 1601 West Old Plank Road in south Columbia.

The advisory will be lifted Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Another boil water advisory was issued by the city of Centralia in northeast Boone County.

The advisory was issued after a water main break on North Collier Street on Wednesday.

Officials said the water pressure may dropped to a point that could have allowed possible contamination of water for Centralia water customers east of Collier Street.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect through midnight on Friday.

According to to the Water District and Centralia officials, some customers may need to:

  1. Boil water for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption. Use of bottled water may be feasible alternative to boiling tap water when under a boil water advisory.
  2. Do not use ice from household automatic icemaker or use any ice made with unboiled water from this system. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled or buy ice.
  3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
  4. Let water cool before drinking.
